The Costumed Crusader... kind of

Those who have read some of my recent articles will know that I am a critic of the Cult of $ci�nto�og�. I�ve never found it easy to tolerate bullies, bullshitters or bad science, so I suppose it was inevitable that I�d have some strong words for a new-age UFO cult.
Can I still say new-age? It�s not looking particularly new anymore... the founder died in 1986. Even back then, a lot of his teachings had been shown to be utter crap. His writings (and a taped lecture series that the cult sold to its members) described how human beings were doomed to act in certain ways, as a result of being evolved from clams. Another troublesome ancestor, apparently, was Piltdown Man. Hu88ard revealed this in �$ci�nto�og�: A History of Man�... just months before the Piltdown Man skeleton was revealed to be a hoax. Whoops... poor old Ron. He also claimed that Mars and Venus were inhabited, and that not smoking enough was the cause of lung cancer. Imbecile. But that was the 1950s, and there was still room in the world for a slick snake-oil salesman.
Half a century later, it�s all looking more than a little ludicrous.
Still, bad things happen to people who criticise $ci�nto�og�. Am I being paranoid? Do a Google search for �Operation Freakout� and you might understand my reasoning.
Hu88ard always had strong views about those who criticised his empire. For example, consider his policy letter, �Attacks on $ci�nto�og�� (Hu88ard Communications Office, Policy Letter of 15th February 1966):
"Attackers are simply an anti-$ci�nto�og� propaganda agency so far as we are concerned ... BANISH all ideas that any fair hearing is intended and start our attack with their first breath. Never wait. Never talk about us - only them. Use their blood, sex, crime to get headlines. Don't use us.
I speak from 15 years of experience in this. There has never yet been an attacker who was not reeking with crime...�
A common refrain from $ci�nto�ogists is �What are your crimes? What are your crimes?� It originates in the practice of auditing in which, hooked up to a primitive lie detector (it�s a �religious artefact� called the electrop$ychometer), a parishioner is made to relive events from their past. And (to further illustrate the sinister nature of the cult) records of every session are kept. If a person ever tries to leave the cult, their files are examined for information that can be used for blackmail.
�Crime� is highly subjective where $ci�nto�ogists are concerned. For example, it isn�t a crime to slander, rob or �destroy� a �Suppressive Person� - a critic of the cult. $ci�nto�og� believes itself to be above the law. It is a crime to assist the police, even to let them pass, if they are in pursuit of a $ci�nto�ogist. (Hu88ard may have been feeling vulnerable when he wrote that order: he was arrested a number of times, and finished his life as a fugitive from justice.) Hu88ard Communications Office, Policy Letter of January 4th 1966: "Somebody some day will say 'this is illegal'. By then be sure the orgs [branches of the cult] say what is legal or not."
My own �crimes� include voicing my opinions, and quoting pieces of Hu88ard�s writing to you. (And certain other actions to encourage people to leave the Cult.) Thus, I have made myself a Suppressive Person.
Remember Hu88ard�s instruction: �Use their blood, sex, crime...� If a $ci�nto�ogist really wanted to �destroy� me, they would probably begin by hiring private investigators, and finding out as much about me as they could. They have done this to their critics for decades. In some cases they go in for intimidation; in others they try to ruin a person in the eyes of their community.
Now, as you know: I have something to hide. I�m a transvestite... and I�d rather my neighbours weren�t aware of that fact. A $ci�nto�ogist would take great delight in this fact: it �proves� that their founder said: �There has never yet been an attacker who was not reeking with crime...�
I�m a deviant. No $ci�nto�ogist salvation for me. They wouldn�t bother to make the subtle distinction between a transvestite and a homosexual. In fact, Hu88ard claimed that $ci�nto�og� could �cure� homosexuality. (But then he also said it was the only cure for radiation burns from atomic weapons...)
In fact, what Hu88ard had to say about homosexuals, in his book �$cience of $urvival� was: �Such people should be taken from the society as rapidly as possible and uniformly institutionalized�. He set out to prove that his methods could �cure� such �aberrations�. Human beings were to be classified on a numeric scale, the �tone scale�, which is still found within $ci�nto�og� doctrine today.
Elsewhere in �$cience of $urvival� (1974) Hu88ard states:
�There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the tone scale, neither one of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts.
The first is to raise them on the tone scale [by making them $ci�nto�ogists]. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow ... The sudden and abrupt deletion of all individuals occupying the lower bands of the tone scale from the social order would result in an almost instant rise in the cultural tone and would interrupt the dwindling spiral into which any society may have entered.�
Note that gays, �perverts� (and Suppressive Persons like me) score 1.1 on the tone scale, and are therefore earmarked for the death camps, if $ci�nto�og� ever reaches its goal of world domination. (It�s no big deal, really: $ci�nto�og� is having a very bad year, and I doubt they�re going to be able to spare the resources to determine my identity and come after me.)
Arrayed against this sinister new world order is a group that couldn�t be more different. It�s a loose-knit, decentralised, almost flat-broke collection of students, gamers, geeks, crazies and former $ci�nto�ogists. Anonymous: less an organisation, more a state of mind. Anybody can be Anonymous, and can do anything. Nobody else acts or speaks on my behalf, and I don�t presume to act or speak for them. There is no leader; any such leader would have become �fair game� and been destroyed by the Cult.
How does Anonymous feel about gays? They celebrate them. They venerate a particularly brave protester in the USA who appears in dozens on YouTube videos under the name �Angry Gay Pope�. Ditto Shawn Lonsdale, a gay protester who died earlier this year in mysterious circumstances.
Within the protest group, the term 'fag' is used almost interchangeably with 'person'. We have lawfags, camerafags, moralfags... and a person is also described by their location: Oslofags, NYfags... whatever. It's just one of the ways in which we celebrate something that $ci�nto�og� doesn�t permit. And at a recent protest rally in London, one guy came along in a dress. (No, it wasn�t me.) It was remarked upon in the �post raid report� on our forum... and not one person said anything nasty about the guy who chose to protest in drag. Not one.
Those young people give me great hope for the future. For a time when hatred based upon the ignorance of earlier generations is banished into history.
One of Hu88ard�s own children was gay. Hu88ard applied the full range of $ci�nto�og� methods in an effort to �cure� him, and succeeded only in making him suicidal. Eventually, one of Quentin Hu88ard�s suicide attempts paid off. Anybody would be devastated by the death of a child. But consider Hu88ard�s reaction. Is this the response of a normal, moral human being?
�That stupid fucking kid! That stupid fucking kid! Look what he's done to me!�
Final example of homophobic Hu88ard showing himself to be an idiot: his cult is founded upon the concept of past lives, and he claimed, among a number of other adventures, to be a reincarnation of Cecil John Rhodes, the founder of Rhodesia - now Zimbabwe. He went to far as to outfit himself like Rhodes, and visited the country.
Rhodes (God bless him) was a homosexual.
